The construction of 5 hydrogen refueling stations is currently underway, a project for which Milano Serravalle Engineering is responsible for site management and safety coordination.
The "SerraH2Valle" project by Milano Serravalle – Milano Tangenziali S.p.A., worth over 55 million euros and co-financed with European funds, has the main goal of establishing a coordinated network of hydrogen refueling points across the entire concession network, thereby contributing to the progressive decarbonization of road mobility.
In Lombardy, the refueling stations will be built within the service areas of Rho, Carugate Est, and Carugate Ovest, located along Milan's ring roads. In Piedmont, they will be located in the Tortona Est and Tortona Ovest Service Areas on the A7, strategically positioned halfway along the freight corridor connecting Milan with the Port of Genoa, along the TEN-T Rhine-Alpine corridor.
The service areas will be equipped with the most advanced technologies to ensure, in line with the strictest European standards, various hydrogen refueling options, in particular:
- 700-bar refueling for light vehicles;
- 350-bar refueling for both heavy and light vehicles;
- 350-bar HF high-flow refueling (from the English "High Flow") for heavy vehicles, particularly freight vehicles and buses.
Regarding the capacity of the stations, Milano Serravalle has designed each service area to be able to supply, in the initial phase, at least 1.0 ton of hydrogen per day (1.0 tonH2/day or 1000 kgH2/day) and, subsequently, to meet the expected growing demand for hydrogen, to double the supply capacity to over 2.0 tonH2/day (in line with the National Hydrogen Strategy for a distribution with a distance between stations of 100 km).
The future is already here!
