Milano Serravalle Engineering directed the extraordinary maintenance works of the Rho Viaduct (Milan), located on the A50 - West Ring Road of Milan.
Built in the late 1960s, the structure is 330 m long and consists of two side-by-side decks with 11 spans.
The strengthening of the piers, reinforcement of the foundation, replacement of structural bearings and portions of deteriorated steel beams and the upgrading of parapets, safety barriers, and pavement are among the interventions conducted.
Moreover, a modern system of monitoring sensors has been installed, allowing remote control of the structure. The system continuously analyses the structure’s dynamic response to strains making it possible to identify any risk factors.
